New Insulation Regulations

New changes to insulation laws for rental properties…new insulation rules came in to law on the 31st May this year which was approved by Parliament and take effect on 1 July 2016.

 

Insulation requirements by 1 July 2016

  1. all new tenancy agreements include a statement of the extent and safety of insulation in the property
  2. any replacement or installation of insulation in a rental property meets the required standard
  3. the installation of electrically conductive insulation products (such as reflective foil products) will be banned by the regulations
  4. all social houses where the tenant pays an Income Related Rent has underfloor and ceiling insulation meeting the required standard where it can be practically installed.

Insulation requirements by 1 July 2019

All rental properties will be required to have underfloor and ceiling insulation meeting the required standard where it can practically be installed.
